Kate & Mike: Day 2
Kate & Mike hosted Day 2 of their October wedding celebration at Foreign Cinema, a beautiful San Francisco venue in the heart of the Mission District!
The Details (photos are below):
Kate and Mike wanted every aspect of their personalities to be written all over the décor and feel of the celebration. It was also very important to incorporate the idea of the party being hosted at a venue that was known for showing films!
Upon arrival, guests eyed beautiful K and M initials hanging in front of the venue’s double doors. Created from wood and seasonal blooms, they set the tone for this country meets city wedding. Rosé champagne, flavorful cocktails and light hors d’ouevres were passed as 145 of Kate and Mike’s closest friends and colleagues entered Foreign Cinema’s courtyard and art gallery.
Vintage table letters (that will hang in their first child’s nursery) rested upon one of two eclectic, ivory and lime green brocade table linens!
Seating assignments were placed inside of director’s clapboard picture frames. Bold, beautiful blooms in apothecary bottles aligned each table in the courtyard to create an at home, country feel which was influenced by their similarly designed home on the outskirts of San Francisco. A thin, clear tent covering the courtyard had a layer of lights, creating the illusion that guests were under a cloud of constant fireworks! All the while a steady stream of films played behind them, including Fast Times at Ridgemont High and The Breakfast Club!
The inside was very warm and elegant and centered around the brick enclosed fireplace! Votive candles spanning the ledge helped create an intimate feel. Two brick inlets high above the bar were the perfect place for Kate and Mike to display Mr. & Mrs. letters. They were delivered as individual, life size wooden letters, but were turned into a sparkling, metallic silver jaw dropper!
Guests dined on a 3-course meal with entrées that included Northern Halibut and Bavette Steak! In the spirit of the wedding invitations that asked guests to attend a celebration on behalf of “K+M”, the menus presented a parallel design.
Keeping consistent with the Mr. and Mrs. letters in the main dining room, we designated Kate and Mike’s seats at the head of their table with miniature Mr. & Mrs. blocks!
What’s a movie without snacks? We created a Concession Stand of favors – miniature old-fashioned candy jars full of M&Ms, Sour Patch Kids, Red Vines, Caramel Popcorn and Hot Tamales! It was a no-brainer considering Mike is a candy-aholic! Labels affixed to each candy jar said “Thank you, K + M”.
Before heading into the Gallery for dancing, guests stopped to get dolled up for their moment inside the photo booth! Photo reels were then used to create a guest book full of well wishes and humor to start K + M out on their road to a blissful marriage!
